I (Missy) met my husband, Justin, while in college at Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State. (Eat'em up Cats!) I'm putting it politely when I say he was kind of a hard catch, after many years of being persistent, we officially tried to give dating a shot about 5 years after we met. I was in the Fort Worth area then, working as a Conversion Specialist at a global financial institution, and he was working at the family ranch helping run the family cattle business in Mason, Texas. About 2 years into dating, he asked me to move to the big city of Mason (approx 1700 in the whole county) and of course, I agreed. We lived together in a cute little rock house on his family's ranch that once was a dugout during the indian and cattle drive days. After another 2 years we found out we were pregnant, eloped in Italy, and had our first little cowboy in 2011. I could say he was the catalyst in our relationship. Justin and I both knew we would 'hopefully' spend the rest of our lives together, but didn't know how strong our bond could be until we had kids. Our second one was born just three years later after a long period of trials and upset with pregnancy...and to put icing on the cake he arrived into this world 3 weeks early, on the coldest day of the year, near midnight. This wouldn't have been a bid deal except we live over an hour away from the hospital. Through it all, we ended up with two healthy little cowboys who are growing like weeds and continue to make Justin and I so proud.
Ok...let's go fast here...
When the first was born kept working part time at a sand mine near the ranch. When the second was born I retired completely to focus on raising kiddos, growing gardens, and cooking fabulous meals! I get to do a lot of that, but after being introduced to essential oils during my challenging attempts to become and keep pregnancies, and seeing their effectiveness, I started sharing my oily stories with the world. Don't worry, I'll share a lot of them here. That quickly became a lucrative and self fulfilling 'job' for me because I got to help people all over the world with situations they once felt they had no hope for. Meanwhile, Justin was scared I was going to start practicing voodoo magic and letting my armpit hair grow...not really, he was just a little skeptical...but not for long. He was kicking tail at the family business becoming full owner/manager after his fathers retirement.
In 2018, we took a trip to Angel Fire, New Mexico, with a short visit to Taos where we had a little bit of an 'experience.' We went into a rock shop, like we always do, to check out all the beautiful stones that might have been possible because of Justin's aunt and uncle. They have a rock, gem and mineral business in Colorado and service many businesses all over the world. This rock shop was pretty cool, and managed that day by a sweet girl, who I sadly have forgotten her name, who really touched me. After we sewed up our day trip to Taos, we quickly called our Aunt Janie and told her to send us some rocks, because we had then had a deeper love for their beauty.
The rest is kind of history...while managing kiddos, households, gardens (yea right) and cooking lots of spaghetti, I merged my successful essential oil business, of which I'm very passionate about, with our little rock side business. What we thought would be little, turned into big and powerful, especially with the introduction of the "I Feel..." bracelet collections which is an intentional emotions line stemmed from personal tragedies. We've now purchased a brick and mortar shop in town, which I'll have to tell you that story later, and are all continuing to grow, thrive and try to do good things.
Our boys are the best, the oldest is in 1st grade now and probably smarter than both Justin and I combined. He loves playing Fortnite and football. Our youngest thinks he's the actual Spider Man. He get's suited up daily and loves being the center of attention and picking on big bro. He will start Pre-K next school year, and I'm not sure what to think about that.
So I could write for days, and this is probably longer then you actually wanted, (sorry) but that is what blogging is for, right? Look for BRIEF (promise) stories in the blog section of our site helping you to get to know us better, which I'll just go ahead and apologize for now. I'll also be sharing lot's about oils, stones, country folk, shuttle busses, farts, football, B&B and shop remodels, travels...you name it! Get ready to walk on the wild side, whatever, we're kind of tame, but are big dreamers and can't wait to share those dreams with you.
(ps...if you're wondering why there isn't a picture of my hot cowboy husband, don't worry...they're coming. He's recently decided that photos aren't his thing...but I have many to share with you before his decision to stop posing for the camera.)
