I’m so glad you are interested in learning more about what exactly an essential oil is. I’ll be honest, when I was first introduced to them, I thought, “eh, maybe I’ll make a few candles with them, and my house will smell really yummy.” Sure, they can totally be used for that, but little did I know that they could be used for so many other things.
If you have a minute, I’d like to tell you more.
Essential oils have been around since the beginning of time. As soon as God blessed the earth with seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and all other parts of plants, essential oils have been present. They are highly concentrated, often times 50-70 times more powerful than herbs! Allow me to put that into perspective–one drop of peppermint essential oil is equivalent to 28 cups of peppermint tea! I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather use one drop of oil as opposed to guzzling 28 cups of tea.
So why are essential oils so effective?
Due to the fact that the quality of these oils are unparalleled, they are actually able to work at the cellular level, and protect the cells of living organisms. They are nutrients that have the ability to penetrate the cell wall membrane, and have unique chemical structures which allow the oils to pass directly through the skin for an immediate systemic response when used topically.
Speaking of topically, let’s talk oil application, there are 3 main ways you can use your oils, aromatically, topically and internally.
